Gold Coast Surfing
A bit further south is the Gold Coast's Palm Beach or Palmy. Palm Beach has some of the most consistent right break barrels of the Gold Coast beaches.
Like many areas of the Gold Coast Australia, Palmy can be hit hard by tidal channels and currents, particularly around the river mouth areas such as Currumbin Creek and Tallebudgera Creek. Caution is advised when surfing these areas.
If you are all surfed out, check out the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary just in from Palmy. There are over 20 hectares of native Australian animals and Australian bush to explore, with the added highlight of swarms of lorikeets and rosellas descending on the tourists and trees alike at feeding time.
