Surfing Gold Coast Main Beach
Just north of Surfers Paradise is one of the best-known beaches in Australia, Gold Coast's Main Beach. This beach has consistent beach breaks that can really pump if the banks are formed up just right and the swell is high. The only hassle is that it is crowded on the weekend, which can certainly spoil your surfing. Your best bet is to surf Main Beach in the early morning before the breeze gets up to flatten the waves.
If you get to Main Beach and the surf is not up, you could check out the Sea World theme park which is right near the beach.
Many of the Gold Coast beaches have 'learn to surf' lessons for those new to surfing. At Main Beach, you can pick up surf lessons and equipment from just near the Main Beach Bathing Pavilion.
