Surfing Gold Coast Burleigh Beach
For one of the top point breaks on the Gold Coast Australia, head 12km South of Surfers Paradise to Burleigh Heads Beach. The Gold Coast's Burleigh Beach has a number of distinct surfing sections.
Burleigh Beach has some sweet glassy barrels when the banks are well formed up by the sand from Tallebudgera Creek. If the Gold Coast gets some rare cyclone boosted waves, then either watch or hitch a tow-in ride from here to some of the biggest monster waves you will see in Australia.
For point breaks, you can't go past Burleigh Bluff. This is for experienced surfers only as the waves can be huge. Just getting to the waves can be interesting, with rock jumping the only way into this challenging but exciting part of the Gold Coast surf at times.
