Surfing Australia's Gold Coast
It is no accident that the Gold Coast Australia has produced some of the best surfers in the world. The Gold Coast surf is legendary, with some of the world's best point breaks as well as heaps of fun beach breaks to keep you going.
You have over 35km of Gold Coast surfing heaven to choose from, so most days you can find surf pumping somewhere along the Gold Coast. To find a spot to drop in - just do as the locals do, drive along the coast. If you are more techno savvy, check out one of the many Gold Coast surf cams to find out where the breaks are before you head out.
The Gold Coast surf report is best between January and April when the swell is at its peak. Water temperature then is also a balmy 23°C or 73°F.
Gold Coast surf life isn't just limited to surf board riders. Boogie boarders and kite surfers also have plenty of fun in the surf. If you just want to have a go, you can pick up some learn to surf lessons on the Gold Coast from one of many local surf schools.
If you are hitting the beach breaks, watch out for the Gold Coast Surf Life saving volunteers. To be on the safe side always swim between the red and yellow flags. Boardies - stay between the red and yellow and blue flags for your own safety. Life Savers only patrol the beaches, so don't swim in canals or the mouth of rivers.
